Tim Ayres named Industry minister in new-look Cabinet

Manufacturing advocate and former Future Made in Australia assistant minister Tim Ayres has been named Australia’s new Industry minister, replacing Ed Husic after he was spectacularly dumped from the frontbench.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese unveiled his new ministry on Monday, naming Senator Ayres as Minister for Industry and Innovation and Minister for Science, with Andrew Charlton as his deputy.

Mr Charlton, a second term MP with extensive experience in the tech sector, takes the newly created role of Assistant Minister for Science, Technology and the Digital Economy alongside that of Cabinet Secretary.
