It is worth digging a little deeper into the important contribution that Nobel laureate Brian Schmidt and UNSW Scientia Professor of Economics Richard Holden made in their National Press Club appearance last week.
The joint address, on the subject of ‘Securing Australia’s sovereign research capability’, was not carried live on any of the broadcast channels (which itself says a lot about Australia’s perceived interest) but is available to watch here.
The arguments will be very familiar to those who work in institutional research, or who have followed the Australia’s troubled path on innovation policy over the past couple of decades.
