The Commonwealth Bank has refuted allegations it is offshoring Australian technology jobs to India as the finance union prepares a challenge in the Fair Work Commission that could set an important precedent.
The application to the FWC, seen by InnovationAus.com, alleges that dozens of the roles in a wave of redundancies by the bank in June are almost identical to jobs being advertised by its wholly owned subsidiary CBA India around the same time.
The Financial Sector Union alleges at least 15 of the “substantively identical” roles, including digital product owners, engineering managers and senior software and platform engineers are in the bank’s same business unit.
