Australia’s consumer watchdog is negotiating with consulting giant EY on another contract to build the tech infrastructure behind the national digital ID system after the consultants failed to deliver under a $14 million contract.
The original deal struck in March last year required EY to build the main registers and portals behind the Australian Government Digital ID System (AGIDS).
As the government’s key identity verification platform, the AGIDS is the bedrock of a new Digital ID system aimed at reducing the sharing of personal information and improving services.
