Telstra Health has won a $33 million contract with the federal government to replace the My Health Record’s clunky PDF format with a new open-source health data sharing standard.
The Australian Digital Health Agency revealed the initial three-year deal on Monday, wrapping up a 10-month search for the new data platform that will serve as the foundation for the next-generation digital health record.
The new solution is expected to improve data sharing by replacing the Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) standard, which is failing to keep up with the demands of the system, with the FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standard.
