American military contractor Leidos has secured the key role of systems integration partner on Defence’s counter-drone project, beating local defence tech darling DroneShield and others to the deal.
Defence Industry minister revealed the latest contract under Defence’s multi-stage LAND156 program on Wednesday, just days after revealing that the government would spend $1.3 billion on counter-drone capabilities over the next decade.
The Counter small Uncrewed Aerial System (CsUAS) program is designed to protect Australian troops and defence sites from drone attacks, with almost $40 million in drone-defeating technologies already being tested by the Australian Army.
