Sydney School of Entrepreneurship chief executive Sarah Jones has joined the Australian Institute of Company Directors as its group head of education.
Dr Jones takes on the role at the AICD, the country’s peak professional body for directors, at a crossroads for governance and director education.
“We are living through times that are defined by deep complexity—shifting values, accelerating technologies, rising expectations of accountability, and profound transitions in energy and trust,” she said on LinkedIn.
“For directors, the ability to navigate these intersecting forces is not only about stewardship of organisations, but also about strengthening society through world-class governance and cultural leadership.”
Dr Jones has held multiple senior roles in leadership and governance education during her career.
She said she was “privileged to join the AICD team” at a time when board leadership is under increasing scrutiny from shareholders, regulators and the public.
“My passion has always been to reimagine education as a platform for foresight, resilience, and inclusive leadership, helping people think clearly in the face of ambiguity and act with impact in systems that are increasingly interconnected.”
The Albanese government has appointed Luke Woodward as an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) commissioner for the next five years.
Mr Woodward has extensive experience in competition and consumer law enforcement at both the ACCC and in private practice, most recently as a partner at King & Wood Mallesons and previously at Gilbert + Tobin.
His appointment strengthens the commission’s depth of expertise across competition, mergers, and infrastructure regulation, the Assistant Minister for Productivity Andrew Leigh said in a statement.
The Queensland government has named former Tasmanian premier and Australia’s high commissioner to Singapore Will Hodgman as the new chair of Trade and Investment Queensland.
Queensland Finance minister Ros Bates thanked outgoing chair Daniel Gschwind and board member Angela Young for their service. Peter McKay and John Sosso will continue as departmental representatives on the board.
Professor Alan E Rowan has been appointed deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) at the University of Wollongong, commencing January 2026.
Professor Rowan joins from the University of Queensland, where he led the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. He is also a fellow at both the Australian Academy of Science and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
eConveyancing platform PEXA has announced a leadership refresh, appointing Peter Bonney as chief product and technology officer and Kylie Waldock as chief customer and commercial officer.
Mr Bonney joins from Xero where he served as executive general manager of product engineering, while Ms Waldock brings extensive experience from NAB, ME Bank and MoneyPlace.
As part of the leadership changes, group chief technology officer Eglantine Etiemble will depart in November. PEXA said the restructure reflects its commitment to innovation, customer focus, and expansion into new markets.
Three internal promotions were also announced: Clare Gill to chief regulatory and corporate affairs officer, Krystle Kocik to group chief product officer and Steve Braithwaite to general manager of new markets and group strategy.
Mathpath founder and principal strategist Aubrey Blanche has joined The Ethics Centre as director of ethical advisory and strategic partnerships. In the new role, she will oversee programs and partnerships.
After almost a decade as chairman of mining company Cobalt Blue, Rob Biancardi will retire at the conclusion of the 2025 annual general meeting. Joe Kaderavek will assume the role of chair following the AGM.
