A decision to sit in on a quantum physics class 20 years ago planted the seed of what became Australia’s first quantum technology firm and earned founder Dr Vikram Sharma a Prime Minister’s Science Prize on Monday night.

Dr Sharma, a computer scientist studying in Silicon Valley at the time, says the classes opened his eyes to the disruption technologies like quantum sensing, computing and cybersecurity, could bring.
