Australia rules out dedicated AI laws in push to become global hub


Australia will rely on its existing patchwork of laws to regulate artificial intelligence rather than introduce dedicated legislation, as the federal government seeks to position the country as a global AI hub.

The investment-forward approach is revealed in the long-awaited National AI Plan, which sets “clear and stable conditions to attract domestic and global investment” with the ultimate aim of building an “AI-enabled economy”.
