A pioneering oceanographer has criticised CSIRO management’s lack of scientific experience and warned cuts to the agency’s environmental research will compound Australia’s climate crisis.

Amid reports the CSIRO’s Environmental Research Unit is bearing the brunt of 300 to 350 research job cuts, UNSW Emeritus Professor Trevor McDougall warned climate research has “never been more pressing”.
