One of Australia’s leading AI researchers will use a major address on Wednesday to warn the country is “dangerously unprepared” to capture the upside of artificial intelligence or to guard against the downside.
In a speech to the National Press Club, Professor Toby Walsh will call for greater investment in and regulation of AI, while arguing that independent expert voices risk being drowned out as tech companies intensify lobbying efforts.
