Nearly $200k, 15 months ‘wasted’ on AI adviser search

Industry minister Tim Ayres quietly abandoned his predecessor’s search for expert AI advisers last August after the government spent more than $188,000 on a 15 month recruitment process.

Newly released documents show the considerable effort was abandoned many months before the scrapping emerged through the Senate and that more than 260 applicants were never formally notified.
