The replacement of Australia’s only nuclear medicine production facility will not break ground until 2028, five years after the $619 million rebuild was announced by former Industry minister Ed Husic in 2023.
The delays to the project – which was always expected to take a decade – leaves the ageing facility to be propped up for longer despite longstanding safety concerns.
