A Senate committee has rejected another bill aimed at the consulting sector, this time shutting down a plan to have politicians scrutinise the public service’s multi-billion spend on consultants and tech service suppliers.
The additional oversight was not required, the committee found, with a “robust” system for scrutinising consulting deals already in place after a series of reforms in response to the PwC tax leaks scandal.
