Medical research fund swells to $1bn in grants from 2030

Australia’s medical research fund will be opened up to offer hundreds of millions more in grants for research projects each year, with the government now eyeing $1 billion in annual disbursements from 2030.

Tuesday’s federal budget commits more than $500 million in provisions for future spending over the next four years to dramatically increase annual grant funding from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).
