The next version of Australia’s basic cybersecurity mitigation strategies will be less prescriptive and focus on easier implementation, as most government agencies continue to struggle to reach baseline maturity levels.

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) this week launched a consultation with registered cyber professionals on the next iteration of the ‘Essential Eight’ mitigation strategies, which includes basics like patching applications and systems, restricting admin privileges and making regular backups.
