A local manufacturer of battery anode material that can slash charging times and improve battery density will construct and operate a commercial scale demonstration facility in Wollongong after receiving a $45 million federal grant.
Sicona Battery Technologies said the grant will allow it to demonstrate production of its advanced silicon-carbon battery anode material from the plant, in hopes of securing offtake agreements with global battery and EV manufacturers.
