AFP warned about PwC leaks in 2018

The federal police declined to pursue an investigation into the PwC tax leaks scandal in 2019, despite the Tax Office providing it with evidence one of the firm’s former partners leaked confidential government information that helped multinationals sidestep tax avoidance laws.

Australian Taxation Office (ATO) commissioner Chris Jordan on Tuesday night revealed the agency was almost immediately aware in 2016 that large companies were sidestepping the then new law by “suspiciously and quickly” restructuring.
