Aged care data reforms off course, experts warn

Four years on from a royal commission that warned of critical gaps in aged care data, the sector is still struggling with siloed solutions and a host of other information barriers, according to new CSIRO research.

The science agency worked with the Digital Health CRC to assess progress in a complex and changing system comprising thousands of providers and around half-a-million residential and home care participants.

It results released on Tuesday show a web of inconsistent data languages and standards has risen from the involvement of numerous sources, people, and software programs, creating challenges in data access, digital literacy and security.
