US AI giant Anthropic provided confidential evidence to Parliament’s joint committee this week in a move other witnesses say has diminished scrutiny as Australia finalises its first legal standards for AI.

Media and others present at the Joint Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence were ushered out of a public hearing in Sydney on Tuesday so Anthropic could provide evidence in camera.
