The urban policy think tank Committee for Sydney says a lack of alignment between national and state priorities and funding streams is diluting Australia’s capacity to leverage research and development (R&D) and supercharge industry investment.
Committee for Sydney Head of Policy Jeremy Gill told InnovationAus.com that beyond the R&D examination taking place, “we would like to see a broader review of the innovation ecosystem at a national level.”
“Australia’s biggest innovation incentive policies and initiatives like Future Made in Australia and the National Reconstruction Fund present significant opportunities, but a lack of coordination creates excessive inter-state competition and fragments effort,” Mr Gill said.
