ASX cops $20.5m fine for misleading on CHESS upgrade

Australia’s stock exchange operator has admitted it made misleading comments on the status of a critical tech project, and will pay more than $23 million in fines and costs as part of an eleventh-hour settlement with the corporate regulator.

The agreement ends a two-year Federal Court lawsuit brought by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) in August 2024, scheduled to go to trial on Monday.
