Sicona warns ‘small window’ for Aussie battery industry is closing


A local battery manufacturer is warning that the “small window” for Australia to become a key player in a $17 billion industry could soon close as rivals in the UK and US are boosted by their governments.

Sicona Battery Technologies, which needs $55 million to finish building commercial-scale manufacturing plant in Port Kembla, has called for more local capital investment into critical mineral and battery material manufacturing.
