The Albanese government is facing more calls to develop mission oriented industry policy, set up a new fund for exporters and flex its procurement muscle to realise its green energy superpower ambition.

Worker, environment and suitability groups will on Wednesday launch a push for the strategic development of Australia’s renewable energy supply chains, warning the country is being left behind in the global green energy race.

Diversified battery supply, wind and solar panel production, high-voltage cable manufacturing, and electric vehicle production are the key untapped opportunities, according to the new report, which pushes for policy action and investment by government.
