The Albanese government has urged industry giants like Cochlear, Thales and Rio Tinto to pull together in the “national interest” and resist falling into antiquated arguments as debate ramps up about productivity reform.
In return, Industry minister Tim Ayres on Friday told assembled companies, business lobbies, unions and industry experts that the government will better align its policies to drive the productivity push.
The clarion call at an industry capability roundtable comes ahead of higher profile economic and productivity roundtables in Canberra later this month that could shape the second term government’s agenda.
