The University of Sydney has broken ground on its new biomedical facility, which has soared by $150 million in costs since the announcement three years ago but could “change the game” for health innovation.
The Sydney Biomedical Accelerator (SBA) will eventually house 1200 researchers and clinician scientists in Sydney’s inner west and is now due to open in 2028 with a price tag of $780 million.
The 36,000 square metre facility represents the university’s largest capital investment and is aiming to accelerate biomedical research and discovery that leads to new healthcare solutions and improved health outcomes.
