Chalmers looks to unlock super billions for startups, clean energy

Australian superannuation funds may soon be able to invest in riskier assets like startups and venture capital funds, under rule changes being considered by the federal government.

A Treasury consultation paper released on Friday floats sweeping changes to investment rules for super funds it is hoped will expand the $4.5 trillion dollar sector’s capacity to bankroll innovation and nation-building projects.
