Chalmers’ paper gains backtrack buoys innovation investors

Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ backdown on taxing unrealised gains in large super funds has been hailed by the tech sector and investors as a win for innovation, but sets up an uncertain journey for the reforms through parliament.

Dr Chalmers on Monday announced the government had reworked the package after two years of feedback that included warnings about a handbrake on venture capital and angel investment.
