Clearing the decks: 100 committee reports dismissed in a month

Almost 100 parliamentary reports have had their recommendations dismissed by the Albanese government in the past month, as it works through a backlog of reports and recommendations that were never formally acknowledged by the former Coalition government.

The brief formal responses being put forward say too much time has passed for a fulsome response on issues ranging from innovation, electric vehicles and manufacturing.

The deluge of brief responses puts an official end to processes that in some cases began many years ago, but offers little in the way of acknowledgement to the experts, industry groups and rights organisations hundreds of submissions and countless hours of testimony.
