Digital twinning: CSIRO spinout eyes massive mapping market

The CSIRO’s newest spinout is going after a geospatial mapping and digital twin market that is booming thanks to an explosion in data, after commercialising its technology over a decade at the science agency.

Canberra tech startup Terria on Wednesday announced it has closed a $3 million seed investment round with Australian deep tech investment fund, Main Sequence, allowing its team to focus on scaling up products and reach while keeping its code open sourced.

The move beyond the CSIRO is expected to lead to customers in new fields like energy and infrastructure planning after Terria helped state and federal agencies deliver maps and digital twins.
