Andrew Yates has resigned as chief executive of KPMG Australia after months of scrutiny over the consultancy giant’s handling of whistleblower allegations it misused confidential data.
Mr Yates and KPMG national managing partner audit and assurance Julian McPherson both stepped down suddenly on Friday, with the firm now said to be in “panic mode”, expecting client and regulatory blowback.
