Former Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones has been appointed as Australia’s next Ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Treasurer Jim Chalmers jointly announced the appointment this week, citing Mr Jones’ experience in financial services reform, tax integrity and market modernisation.
Mr Jones served in the federal Parliament from 2010 to 2025, including nearly six years as Assistant Treasurer and shadow financial services minister. He replaces former Ambassador Brendan Pearson.
Dr Gayan Benedict has joined PwC as a partner in Sydney, returning to consulting after senior roles at Oracle, Westpac, Salesforce and most recently as chief technology officer at Salesforce A/NZ.
Describing the move as “coming full circle,” Dr Benedict said AI is reshaping entire sectors, calling it a “big disrupter” that demands more than just great strategy and tech.
Advanced air mobility company AMSL Aero has appointed Dr Adriano Di Pietro as its new chief executive officer, with a remit to bring the Vertiia hydrogen-electric aircraft to market.
