Assistant technology minister Andrew Charlton has called on the private sector to choose Australian AI solutions over foreign alternatives, warning that government policy alone cannot sustain the sector.
In a speech at the University of Technology Sydney on Friday, Dr Charlton said governments can “set the conditions, send signals and de-risk early-stage companies,” but that it is up to businesses to use their buying power to support local AI companies.
