The Western Australian government has unveiled a suite of Budget measures to grow the state’s manufacturing base, including $50 million in grants and low-interest loans for locally-made batteries and $40 million for the New Industries and Innovation Fund.

Budget papers show the government will spend a total of $209.4 million on manufacturing, including $61.9 million to transition to local electric bus manufacturing and $25 million for advanced manufacturing through a new Local Industry Development Fund.

WA’s emerging space sector will also get a boost, with $5.5 million for a commercial satellite assembly capability program and a feasibility study into a Western Australian space launch facility.
