NSW auditor delays release of leaked cybersecurity report

A damning audit exposing cybersecurity failings at four of New South Wales’ six local health districts will be kept under wraps until December after the draft report was leaked to the media.

The audit examining the effectiveness of local health districts in safeguarding patient data found “systemic non-compliance” with minimum NSW Cyber Security Policy standards, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald.

The newspaper also quoted the report as saying the four local health districts and their hospitals were without disaster recovery plans and were “ill-prepared to respond” if a cyber-attack occurred.
