NSW govt axes manufacturing commissioner

The Minns government has quietly cut the role of Modern Manufacturing Commissioner, ending the tenure of Lisa Emerson after just one year and raising more questions about the state’s industrial and innovation policy.

Ms Emerson, a seasoned biotech executive who had been developing a new strategy to revive state manufacturing, now looks set to be the first and only New South Wales Modern Manufacturing Commissioner.

The Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade confirmed the role is ending as part of major changes to the the Investment NSW organisational structure.
