NSW Opposition joins call for data centre push

The NSW Opposition has called on the Minns govt to put the state’s digital infrastructure at the heart of its productivity drive with better planning policies or a formal strategy for data centres.

The strategic approach is needed after several projects have been held up or blocked by planning rules, shadow assistant minister for Innovation and Digital Government Jacqui Munro said on Thursday.

Ms Munro also warned data centres will need more strategic deployment as the power-hungry infrastructure becomes a bigger part of the economy.
