The NSW government on Tuesday opened its new Investment Delivery Authority for expressions of interest, with data centres, clean energy and hotel project the first targets of a $50 billion investment blitz.

Announced in the state Budget with $17.7 million in funding, the Investment Delivery Authority (IDA) promises to be the government’s front door for private investment.

Supported major projects need to be worth at least $1 billion ($200 million for hotels) and be close to shovel ready. The new authority will offer supported proponents fast-tracked approvals, a dedicated planning assessment team and multi-agency taskforce based in the Premier’s Department.
