OpenAI beefs up teen guardrails as new safety laws loom


OpenAI has unveiled new teen safety controls on ChatGPT, automatically restricting the experience when its age prediction systems flag an underage user, as pressure mounts on tech giants over online safety.

The new ChatGPT for Teens service will begin rolling out from Tuesday, offering stronger protections for under 18s as well as improved controls for parents with linked accounts. It is expected to launch in Australia on 8 September.
