The federal Opposition will await the outcome of a court challenge against the election result in the Sydney seat of Bradfield before appointing a new shadow assistant minister for technology and the digital economy.
Gisele Kapterian, the unsuccessful Liberal candidate in the once blue-ribbon Liberal electorate, was appointed to the new role in the shadow ministry in May, pending her winning the seat.
Only she didn’t, with the lawyer and former Salesforce executive falling short by 26 votes in a recount that overturned an initial count to declare Independent Nicolette Boele the winner.
