NSW Liberal powerbroker Alex Hawke has been named shadow industry and innovation minister, while former Salesforce executive and presumptive new MP Gisele Kapterian has been handed the opposition reins for technology and the digital economy.
The changes are among the most surprising in a new shadow ministry announced on Wednesday by new Opposition leader Sussan Ley, following a reunification with junior Coalition partner the Nationals.
The new shadow ministry will also see former Morrison government minister Melissa Price recalled from the backbench as shadow minister for cybersecurity and shadow minister for science, while Senator Andrew Brag got a new productivity and de-regulation portfolio.
