Tech titans and govt seed Canberra think tank

The federal government, tech giants and the Australian Computer Society are stepping in to fund a Canberra based tech policy think tank after university funding for its precursor ran dry last year.

The Tech Policy Design Institute (TPDi) was unveiled on Monday as Australia’s first tech-focused think tank, adding what it says will be an independent voice and holistic view on local and global policy.

It will focus on evidence based, enforceable policy that achieves objectives like safety and productivity, cofounder Professor Johanna Weaver told InnovationAus.com.
