Third time’s a charm: Gilmour readies another launch attempt

Gilmour Space Technologies engineers were rolling out the company’s Eris three-stage rocket from its vehicle assembly building on Monday evening ahead of its third launch attempt scheduled for Wednesday.

Chief executive Adam Gilmour told InnovationAus.com that engineers had started the 40-hour campaign of system checks that start with vehicle in a horizontal position but will culminate with the Eris rocket fully loaded with fuels and oxidisers in its vertical position on the launch pad and ready to fly.

The 40-hour launch campaign is now very familiar to the 30-plus Gilmour Technologies engineers and ground staff at the company’s Bowen Orbital Spaceport in Queensland.
