The federal government’s peak advisory body on industrial policy, Industry, Innovation and Science Australia, has not provided published advice since 2023. It has no chair and no deputy chair.
The organisation has nine vacant board positions and has not received written instructions in the form of a standard statement of expectations from Industry and Science Minister Ed Husic since June 2023.
Industry, Innovation and Science Australia relies on a secretariat within the Industry department, but the heavy lifting of its workload of policy advice and program oversight decisions are carried out by its board and its five sub-committees.
