The Western Australian government has introduced long-awaited privacy legislation, promising its first-ever privacy commissioner and a mandatory data breach notification scheme should it pass before the fast-approaching election.
The state’s Attorney-General John Quigley introduced the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing (PRIS) Bill on Thursday alongside another bill to establish new deputy commissioner roles for privacy and information.
