Fishermans Bend facing five year delay: Victorian auditor

Australia’s largest urban renewal project, Fishermans Bend, will take five years longer than first anticipated, with many medium and long-term projects deferred or delayed, the state’s auditor-general has found.

The audit into the Fishermans Bend Framework, published on Thursday, reveals the five agencies overseeing the precinct are “not on track”, pushing back the delivery timeframe by “at least five years to 2055”.

Some of the medium-term projects will be delayed or deferred by “up to 21 years from the dates outlined in the framework”, which was released in 2018 to guide the transformation of Fishermans Bend.
