Nicholas Mant, the former chief investment risk and sustainability officer at the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility, has joined the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation in the newly created role of chief risk officer.
Having started last month, Mr Mant has a “clear mandate to take risk”, according to an internal profile, and will work with the board and investment team to refine the organisation’s risk appetite and “foster a risk-taking culture”.
His appointment comes after an audit found “gaps in due diligence, investment risk assessment and concessionally” at the Corporation, raising questions about the NRFC’s approach to assessing investments.
Prior to joining the NRFC and NAIF, Mr Mant led risk and investment teams at multilateral development banks, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He has also worked at ANZ.
