Biotech innovator Enhanced Analgesics has won the Health Tech Award at the 2025 InnovationAus Awards for Excellence, prevailing in one of the most competitive categories featuring transformative, life-changing technologies.
In a category also featuring Atmo Biosciences, Epiminder Limited, GLANCE Optical, and Navi Medical Technologies, Enhanced Analgesics distinguished itself with a first-in-class, non-opioid pain therapeutic designed to radically rethink how the world treats acute and chronic pain.
The NSW-based startup, which emerged from six years of research into a new class of non-opioid pain therapeutics at the University of Sydney, took home the award at a black-tie gala dinner at Sydney Town Hall on Thursday night.
EA1, the company’s lead drug candidate, provides over 24 hours of pain relief without addiction risk, respiratory suppression or other life-threatening side effects that have fueled the global opioid crisis.
Administered via nasal drops, EA1 uses lipid nanoparticles to transport synthetic mRNA directly to the brain – bypassing the blood-brain barrier and enabling the body to produce its own pain-relieving molecules.
The judges praised the technology as one of the most promising non-opioid therapeutic innovations to emerge globally, commending Enhanced Analgesics for its scientific excellence, commercialisation momentum and potential to reshape pain management for millions of patients worldwide.
