A Brisbane real estate software firm has been ordered to stop exploiting dark patterns to collect unnecessary personal information from rental applicants, such as children’s names and the type of car the applicant drive.
The regulator’s findings, released Wednesday morning after a year long investigation, will be felt across the ‘RentTech’ sector as an example of how rampant data collection practices can breach Australia’s privacy principles.
