The Australian Research Council has declined to reveal almost any detail on more than a dozen research grants vetoed on national security grounds, but has offered a stiff defence of its selection of other projects.
Last month, the ARC revealed 13 shortlisted research applications had been vetoed by Education minister Jason Clare for “reasons relevant to the security, defence or international relations”.
